A certified officiant who comes to you
I'm Teigh Wade, a certified wedding officiant, and I love this part of my work. After years of helping people through big moments as a REALTOR® and notary public, getting to stand with a couple on the day they say "I do" is a joy.
I come to your location. A backyard in Surprise, a park in Peoria, a venue in Wickenburg, a living room with just the two of you and your witnesses: if it's in Arizona and it matters to you, that's where we'll do it. Small and simple or a full celebration, the ceremony should sound like the two of you.
Arizona marriage license basics
Every Arizona wedding starts with a marriage license. Here are the basics:
- Where to get it. Marriage licenses are issued by the Clerk of the Superior Court in Arizona's counties, and both of you take part in the application. Some counties also offer a by-mail application with a sworn statement signed in front of a notary public, which I can notarize. Check your county clerk's website for current fees, hours and what to bring.
- How long it's valid. An Arizona marriage license is valid for one year from the date it's issued. The ceremony has to happen within that year.
- Waiting period. There isn't one. You can get married as soon as you have the license.
- Where you can use it. The license is valid for a ceremony anywhere in Arizona, but only in Arizona.
- Witnesses. Arizona requires at least two witnesses at the ceremony, and each must be at least 18 years old.
After the ceremony, the completed license goes back to the Clerk of the Superior Court's office to be recorded. I'll walk you through that step so nothing gets missed. This is general information, not legal advice; your county clerk has the official requirements.
How we plan your ceremony
- Call me. Tell me your date, time, location and the kind of ceremony you picture.
- Talk it through. We'll talk about the words you want, any traditions you'd like to include and who'll be standing with you.
- Get your license. Apply together at your county Clerk of the Superior Court and bring the license to the ceremony.
- Say "I do." I lead the ceremony with your two witnesses present, and we make sure the license is completed.
Availability and rates
Rates depend on the date, the location and the kind of ceremony you want, so call me at 480-550-2871 for availability and a quote. Because I'm also a notary public, I can notarize divorce paperwork too; see my mobile notary page for the kinds of documents I handle.
Frequently asked questions
Where do we get a marriage license in Arizona?
You get an Arizona marriage license from the Clerk of the Superior Court in an Arizona county. Both of you take part in the application. Check your county clerk's website before you apply for current fees, hours and what identification to bring. Once you have the license, you can use it for a ceremony anywhere in Arizona, and I'll come to your location.
How long is an Arizona marriage license valid?
An Arizona marriage license is valid for one year from the date it's issued, so your ceremony needs to happen within that year. If the year runs out before the wedding, you'll need to apply for a new license. The license is valid for ceremonies anywhere in Arizona but not in other states.
Is there a waiting period to get married in Arizona?
No. Arizona has no waiting period, so you can hold the ceremony as soon as you have your marriage license in hand. That makes short-notice weddings possible. Call me at 480-550-2871 to check my availability for your date and location, especially if you're hoping to get married soon after you get the license.
How many witnesses do we need for an Arizona wedding?
Arizona requires at least two witnesses at the ceremony, and each witness must be at least 18 years old. Choose your witnesses ahead of time and make sure they'll be there, especially for a small or private ceremony like an elopement at home. Without two adult witnesses present, the ceremony can't go forward, so it's worth confirming with them the day before.
Will you perform the ceremony at our location?
Yes. I come to your location, whether that's a backyard, a park, a venue or your living room. I'm based in Surprise and work all over the West Valley, and I can travel farther within Arizona. Tell me where and when you'd like to get married, and I'll confirm availability and give you a quote.
How do we book you and what do you charge?
Call me at 480-550-2871 to check availability and get a quote. Rates depend on the date, the location and the kind of ceremony you want. Have your date, time, location and a rough idea of the ceremony ready when you call, and we'll take it from there.
